We've driven up and down 280 many a time and have noticed the "Vista Point" signs in the past, but today we decided to follow one. Turns out there's a walking/biking trail along the Crystal Springs Reservoir. There's barbed wire fences on both sides to keep you on the path, but it's quite pretty, and parts of it really reminded me of the Columbia Trail back home.
We saw a lot of little lizards, a cool mountain stream running down a bunch of moss-splattered rocks, and a small sort of inverse-peninsula where the water came in surrounded on 3 sides by land, with one side sloping very gently (must have flooded recently; grass is still visible underneath the water). Also these giant plants with seed dispersal features that look like giant paintbrushes. SC found them ideal for bopping people.
