Snowy egret

This snowy egret has been hanging around the ponds at Caltech the last couple of days.

I first saw him at the at the Throop memorial garden

but later he moved to the ponds outside Baxter and BBB:

He does a thing where he wiggles one foot just under the surface of the water. Maybe to lure out fish?

He caught a fish! He likes to take them out of the pond to eat them, I assume so they will be easier to find in case he drops them (there is a lot of maneuvering involved to get the fish aligned properly for swallowing)
